The external appearance of the development has been designed to achieve a ‘look and feel’ of contemporary rural character, which responds to the subject site’s topography, orientation and the unique bushland setting of ‘Ridgeview Estate’.

 

The design of this single level home with farm shed is strategically located to preserve existing trees and follow existing topography and promoting casual indoor/outdoor lifestyle​.

Significant views toward Maitland and the mountains beyond are on offer from the proposed deck spaces, 4 bedroom and 2 living areas, and the planning of the residence is focused around these views.

The objective of the client was for an energy efficient home, achieving a target of approximately 5 stars under the National Housing Energy Rating Scheme (NATHERS), which is above the minimum requirements for BASIX (equivalent to 3.5 -4.0 stars)

In addition to the minimum considerations, the home incorporates the following:

- carefully considered thermal mass elements including polished concrete floors and sections of blockwork walls,

- hydronic in-slab heating,

- 10kW solar system,

- use of Low-E performance glazing throughout.
